On 8-10 September the Climate Parliament Bangladesh chapter will host the South Asia Regional Climate Summit 2023 in Dhaka, organised in collaboration with Earth Society.
More than 300 policymakers, scientists and experts are expected to attend the Summit, including Members of Parliament from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Discussions will focus on urban mobility, water resources and the future of energy.
The main objectives of the Regional Climate Summit 2023 are:
To bring together policymakers, scientists, experts, and relevant stakeholders to discuss and exchange ideas on how to mitigate the impact of climate change and foster sustainable development in the South Asian region.
To promote renewable energy and identify the challenges and opportunities for its adoption in the South Asian region.
To identify ways to reduce plastic waste and promote sustainable alternatives.
To discuss waste and water management strategies and policies that can help to address the impact of climate change.
To discuss strategies to reduce air pollution and promote clean air initiatives in the South Asian region.
The Regional Climate Summit 2023 is expected to achieve the following outcomes:
Identify the challenges and opportunities for the adoption of renewable energy in the South Asian region.
Identify ways to reduce plastic waste and promote sustainable alternatives.
Develop water and waste management strategies and policies that can help to address the impact of climate change.
Develop strategies to reduce air pollution and promote clean air initiatives in the South Asian region.
Foster partnerships and collaborations among policymakers, scientists, experts, and stakeholders to promote sustainable development in the South Asian region.
