Abidjan, April 2017

Climate Parliament and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) organised a parliamentary hearing in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, on 12 and 13 April 2017 on "The role and responsibilities of parliamentarians in the growth of public and private investment in renewable energy".

The event formed part of the Parliamentary Action on Renewable Energy (PARE) programme, bringing together MPs from Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, and Senegal, as part of the West African Climate Parliament Network, as well as experts and legislators from across the region.

This important meeting made it possible to understand and appropriate new financing strategies and opportunities, and to generate new ideas for parliamentary actions for the promotion of renewable energy in West and East Africa.
