Our Expert Reports on RE in India Now Online!

We're delighted to announce that the Climate Parliament, in collaboration with CSTEP, AIREC and IIT Bombay, is today publishing a series of expert reports for the purpose of increasing renewable energy utilization in the Indian states of Karnataka, Odisha and Maharashtra. The reports, produced after extensive research by experts and analysts from some of India's most prestigious energy consultancies, lay out concrete recommendations for the State Governments of these three vital regions in order to boost renewable energy industries and increase the share of clean energy.

Members of the Climate Parliament network from the State Assemblies of the three regions have formally submitted the reports to their respective Chief Ministers, and plan to use the recommendations and analysis therein to guide their parliamentary campaigns on promoting renewable energy in the coming legislative sessions.

  • RE Energizing Karnataka: An Assessment of Renewable Energy Policies, Challenges and Opportunities (Full Report / Policy Brief)

  • RE Energizing Odisha: An Assessment of Renewable Energy Policies, Challenges and Opportunities (Full Report / Policy Brief)

  • RE Energizing Maharashtra: An Assessment of Renewable Energy Policies, Challenges and Opportunities (Full Report / Policy Brief)

The Climate Parliament has also prepared a more generalised over-arching review of Indian Renewable Energy policy, entitled ‘Guidelines for a Model Renewable Energy Policy in Indian States’, on the basis of which State Governments can suitably modify or replace their existing renewable energy policy. These guidelines list the ideal key policy objectives, pointers and alternatives to develop renewable energy in a State and seek to provide a uniform set of principles and approaches in formulation of a state specific renewable energy policy.

The Guidelines are also available to download from our Resources section, or you can access the document directly here.
