Climate Parliament India MPs hold meeting with Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change



During the ‘Monsoon Session’ of the Indian Parliament, the Climate Parliament Group of MPs organised a meeting in Delhi on 12th August 2021 with the Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Mr Bhupendra Yadav. The meeting focused on the contemporary and critical challenges of climate change in India, particularly in the context of the forthcoming COP 26 in November 2021. 26 multi party MPs, representatives of the British High Commission and experts attended the meeting.


Dr Sanjay Jaiswal, MP and Chairperson of the Climate Parliament India Steering Committee, presented the Green Grids Initiative to the gathering and highlighted the importance of forging an intergovernmental partnership to encourage domestic and international policy focus on green grids. The Minister Bhupendra Yadav extended his support to the Initiative and accepted Climate Parliament’s invitation to participate in its launch. The Minister outlined the activities being undertaken by the Government of India to address the environmental and energy issues in the country and to combat climate change. The Minister also invited the Climate Parliament MPs to organise more interactions with him and his Ministry to initiate joint policy and legislative actions in this area.
