Urge Europe's Finance Ministers to Prioritise Clean Energy Networks

The European Commission has now submitted its proposal for the Multiannual Financial Framework which will set the priorities for roughly €1 trillion in EU expenditure between 2014 and 2020.  The key decisions will be taken in the Council of Ministers over the coming months.  This represents a major opportunity to accelerate the shift from fossil fuels to clean energy.

New, interconnected grids are needed to connect cutting-edge technologies like offshore windfarms to the grid

As part of our ongoing campaign for reform of the EU budget, the Climate Parliament is calling on MPs and MEPs from all of the EU's 27 Member States to co-sign a letter addressed to the Member States' 27 Finance Ministers.

The letter, which has already been signed by Members of the European Parliament from the European People's Party, Greens, Liberals and Socialists, stresses the need for increased support in future EU budgets for renewable energy, and for a European grid to connect everyone to the areas where renewable energy is most abundant.

See the full text of the letter here.
