Climate Parliament chairman visits Delhi - 9 Mar, 2011

New Delhi: 09 March 2011

Graham Watson MEP, Chairman of the Climate Parliament and Chairman of the European Parliament Delegation to India and Rajiv Pratap Rudy MP, Convener of the Parliamentary Forum on Global Warming and Climate Change in the Indian Parliament would meet on 14 March 2011, and share recent progress and views in India and Europe on climate change action, especially renewable energy. Mr. Watson will be on a brief visit to India on 14th March 2011 in preparation of the visit of full delegation to India later in April.

The Climate Parliament has facilitated the meetings of the European Parliament Delegation with the Indian Parliamentary Forum in 2010 also, which helped better understanding of each other’s viewpoints and the opportunities for rapid action to mitigate climate change. The proposed meeting of Watson and Rudy acquires significance as both India and European Union are preparing for their next planning cycles, and the need for ambitious shift to renewable energy is paramount for both.
